Day 6

Subject: Never stop learning, [firstname]

Hi [firstname],

One thing about working around other people is that you learn stuff from them. Oftentimes you'll see a coworker doing something in a more efficient manner, and adopt that technique for yourself.

The only problem is, when you work from home (and especially when you work by yourself) those opportunities just aren't there and it's easy to get out of step with new ideas. That's why it's so important to make the effort to keep your professional and business education up to date.

Take every opportunity to connect with others in your industry. One way of doing that is to schedule a time to participate on a niche forum site. There are plenty of them online, just do a search for [your line of business] + forum.

Likewise, you can participate in niche discussions on social media like Facebook. Be careful here, though, as it's easy to become distracted.

There are many sites online that offer distance leaning courses where you can brush up your skills and get new ideas. They are a worthwhile investment in terms of both time and money.

It's also a good idea to join a professional organization related to your industry. Many of them run courses and seminars at very reasonable rates. Often there are conferences, conventions, and networking events, too, where you can meet other people in the same line of work as you and get new contacts and clients. This can be particularly useful if you are running your own business from home.

Warmly,

[Your Name]
